On 12/03/16 the original owner (an elderly man) was involved in an accident. For unknown reasons the car was totaled by his insurance company and was sold at an insurance auction where I purchased it on 9/19/17. The car only had 1,223 miles on it when I purchased it, and his insurance company issued it a salvage title. The car only had a dented driver side fender, scuffed up front bumper cover, broken driver side headlight and a scuffed up rear bumper cover. There was no frame damage and none of the airbags were deployed. I replaced those items with new parts and began driving it as a company run-around car. In February 2019 my wife was driving the car, and for unknown reasons, the motor overheated. The car only had 5,404 miles on it at that time. It is our belief that the thermostat malfunctioned and did not allow the engine coolant to circulate. As a result, this damaged the engine as it now has a miss and low power. The car does run and drive, however it is Mercedes Benz’ assessment that the motor is damaged and needs repaired. Because the car was issued a salvage title from the original accident, Mercedes Benz will not warranty the engine repair. Other than the motor issue, the car is flawless and like new in every way. This is a beautiful little car and is a real eye catcher. It is one of the most fun cars to drive that we have ever owned. You can literally turn this car around on a dime!
